Educators of young adults with disabilities have limited time in which to provide the opportunities and encouragement for students to learn the skills and attitudes that foster self-determination. This resource, presented with a series of interviews, offers some ideas to help in the process of developing self-determination.

Parents of young adults with disabilities can be placed in the difficult position of prompting their child's self-determination while wondering if the adult world is a safe place for their child.

Service providers face a juggling act of working with young adults while addressing the health and safety concerns of their families, the issue of choice and liability, and differing standards for behavior and lifestyle. This resource, presented in a series of interviews, offers suggestions for maintaining balance in the process.
